How much does a DIY pergola cost?
How much a DIY pergola costs will depend on your chosen model, the size and if you’d like to add any accessories, such as lighting, heaters or roller screens. At Broadview, our DIY pergolas start from just £7,489.
Do I need planning permission for a pergola?
No, you don’t usually need planning permission to install a pergola in your garden. However, there are a few exceptions, such as if you plan on attaching the pergola to the front of your house or you live in a conservation area. It’s always worth double-checking with your local planning office before you begin.
Can I add lights to my pergola?
Yes! You can choose to add integrated LED lighting to your DIY pergola to create a beautiful glow on dull days and dark nights. You can also add electric heaters and roller screens so you can use your pergola all year round.
What are the benefits of including roller screens with my pergola?
A roller screen is great addition to any pergola as it provides additional shading from the strong summer sun and acts as an effective wind breaker to keep you comfortable even on blustery days. In the winter, roller screens can be used to trap warm air within the pergola so you and your loved ones stay wonderfully cosy.
How long does it take to install a pergola?
On average, it takes our customers between 2 and 3 days to finish erecting their pergolas. This is an estimated time and may take less or more time, depending on your DIY abilities.
How long does delivery take?
You can expect your DIY pergola to be delivered within 7 weeks of placing your order.
What material are your pergolas made from?
Our pergolas are made from high-quality aluminium. As opposed to other metals, such as steel, aluminium is far lighter, allowing for an easier build-process without compromising on strength or durability.
Why are aluminium pergolas better than steel pergolas?
Visually, many wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a steel pergola and an aluminium one, but choosing aluminium offers a whole host of benefits. Unlike steel, aluminium is far less likely to rust or corrode and requires no special protective treatment. Aluminium is also a far lighter metal than steel, meaning your metal pergola is easier to build whilst also looking great and remaining strong and sturdy.
Do I have to build my pergola myself or can I have it installed?
Broadview does offer an installation service through our supply and installation business - Patio and Garden Shading. Our installation team is busy, so lead times are usually slower. By installing the pergola yourself, you can start enjoying your pergola as quickly as possible.
